You are the man of the castle
Protecting your family is pretty basic...don't let bad guys or bad stuff into your home!
We know you're tough enough to take out the thief who comes into your home, but what about a more subtle attack? Has this ever happened to you? ...
You're watching football with the family and a tacky commercial comes on… (your sons & daughters are wondering…”what does my dad think about that”?)
You have a couple options…
1. Ignore it (GONG…thanks for playing)
2. Change the channel. Quickly and directly say to all in the room, “I’m sorry, you shouldn’t have had to see that. It was totally inappropriate.”
3. To your kids say, “real men do not treat, or think of women that way”.
You’re watching TV and a commercial comes on that makes men look stupid…
Ask, “why do you think the makers of that commercial felt it was a good idea to make the men look inept or lazy?” (Cell phone & beer commercials in particular)
Admittedly, some of these commercials are quite funny, but the compounded effect emasculates men. Raising the question helps debunk the myth that men are stupid.
You might be wondering, "why say anything at all?" The reason you speak, rather than stay silent, is that there is power in your spoken words! Likewise, there is also power in the words in the commercial!
There is amazing power in the words you speak, and it's easy to forget this power that God has entrusted us with. Please take a moment to listen to this Legacy message titled, "The Power of The Spoken Word". You can listen right from this link, or click the link to download to your iPod or PC.
